Tennis Rome, Paolini-Errani triumph in doubles: second year in a row

They beat Kudermetova-Mertens in a comeback. The Italians win the Internazionali d’Italia 2025

Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani were confirmed as queens of the women’s doubles at the Internazionali d’Italia 2025. The two Italians won the final of the Rome Masters 1000 by beating in two sets, 6-4 7-5, the pair formed by Russian Veronika Kudermetova and Belgian Elise Mertens. A spectacular comeback that gives Italian tennis another day to remember.

After a difficult start, with a double break suffered in both sets, Paolini and Errani managed to overturn the inertia thanks to grit, game variations and a crowd at the Centrale totally on their side. In the first set, down 0-4, they recovered to 6-4. Same script in the second set: the opponents ahead 4-0, then the comeback up to 7-5 that closed the match.

‘Well done,’ commented Premier Giorgia Meloni via social media, congratulating the two champions. For the Italian women it is the second consecutive triumph at the Foro Italico, after their success in 2024, confirming a now consolidated understanding and a golden moment for Italian tennis.
