Billionaire reportedly moves to revive America PAC to support GOP after tensions with Trump ease
Elon Musk may once again step into the political arena, weighing a major financial intervention to support Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections, according to a report by Axios.
The billionaire entrepreneur—owner of Tesla and SpaceX—is said to be preparing to reactivate his super PAC, America PAC, which played a significant role in the 2024 presidential race. That political action committee raised and deployed more than $260 million to back the Republican Party and Donald Trump, whose victory returned him to the White House after defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Harris had entered the race following Joe Biden’s withdrawal.
The reported move suggests Musk could again provide substantial funding to bolster the GOP ahead of midterms that may reshape the balance of power in Washington. The objective, according to the report, would be to prevent the Republican administration from emerging weakened by the vote.
Musk’s relationship with Trump has been marked by sharp shifts. After the 2024 election, the president appointed him to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, known as Doge, a body created to reduce federal spending. The alliance proved short-lived: Musk stepped down from the role and became an outspoken critic of the administration’s policies.
Recent developments, however, point to a possible thaw between the two figures, raising the prospect of renewed alignment at a politically sensitive moment.
