Kate Middleton Completes Three Peaks Challenge After Cancer Remission
Kate Middleton completes the rigorous Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for cancer charity, emphasizing life beyond her diagnosis.
LONDON — The Princess of Wales has scaled the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales to raise funds for a prominent cancer charity and to explore what she termed “life beyond diagnosis.”
Kate Middleton completes Three Peaks Challenge—a grueling endurance test requiring participants to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon within a 24-hour window—over the weekend. The trek commenced Saturday evening, covering a total distance of 23 miles (37 kilometers) and a combined ascent exceeding 10,000 feet (3,000 meters).
The future British queen, 44, revealed her achievement in a social media video published last night. She announced in January 2025 that she was in remission from an unspecified form of cancer, which she first disclosed in March 2024 prior to undergoing chemotherapy.
“To give back: I am so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk on these heights,” the Princess stated in the video, expressing gratitude for her recovery. “But more importantly, it is about giving back and truly recognizing all the incredible work that is happening across the country.”
In a separate post featuring a photograph of her on a misty summit, the Princess elaborated on the deeper motivation behind the physical feat. She noted that she approached the challenge as an opportunity to raise awareness regarding the profound impact of serious illness and to highlight the importance of holistic healthcare.
Kensington Palace officials stated they believe the Princess is the first member of the royal family to complete the national challenge. Her efforts directly benefit The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity through a dedicated fundraising page. The Princess received treatment for her illness at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
Upon completing the final descent, she was met by her husband, Prince William, and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, alongside her parents and brother. The achievement marks another milestone in her gradual return to public duties, which recently included her first official overseas royal visit to Italy in May since her diagnosis.
