Threats after Marine Le Pen’s conviction: magistrate Bénédicte de Perthuis under protection

The Paris court judge received protection after her sentence in the European Parliament fraud trial

Paris court magistrate Bénédicte de Perthuis has been placed under escort after becoming the target of threats following the ruling against Marine Le Pen. According to Le Figaro, a patrol of agents was assigned to protect her and guard her home.

The judge yesterday sentenced the political leader to four years in prison, including two without parole with an electronic bracelet, a €100,000 fine and five years of immediate ineligibility for fraud and embezzlement. The sentence provoked strong reactions and ignited political debate in France.
