Trump Claims US–Iran Deal Reached as Markets React With Caution

The US president announces on Truth Social that strikes against Iran have been cancelled after an alleged agreement involving multiple regional powers, but Tehran offers no confirmation, keeping uncertainty high

US President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that the United States has reached an agreement with Iran, adding that a formal signing will be announced shortly and that planned military strikes against Tehran have been cancelled.

In his statement, Trump said discussions with the Islamic Republic had reached the highest levels of Iranian leadership and were approved. He wrote that he had “cancelled attacks and bombings against Iran scheduled for this evening” following the alleged breakthrough.

According to the president, the agreement would also have been endorsed “in principle and in full detail” by several regional and international actors, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others.

Trump also stated that the US naval blockade would remain in place until the transaction is completed, with the time and location of the signing to be announced later.

Iran, however, has not confirmed that any final agreement has been reached, leaving the status of the deal unclear.

The announcement comes after a series of similar claims by Trump in the past regarding near-final agreements with Tehran that did not ultimately materialize, contributing to persistent uncertainty around US–Iran negotiations and market expectations.

The continued reference to a US blockade of Iranian ports has also raised questions among observers about whether a final settlement has truly been concluded or whether discussions are still ongoing.

At the center of the talks is a memorandum of understanding aimed at extending the fragile ceasefire currently in place and opening further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, while key details remain unresolved.
