Trump Eyes Nicki Minaj for White House Post After Praising Her Body

Trump Eyes Nicki Minaj for White House Post After Praising Her Body

With a key communications position suddenly vacant, the president is floating one of his most unconventional personnel ideas yet: a rapper he recently complimented not for policy expertise, but for what he called her “beautiful” backside

WASHINGTON — In most administrations, the path to a senior White House communications job runs through political campaigns, Capitol Hill, think tanks or television newsrooms. In Donald Trump’s Washington, it may apparently run through a presidential compliment about a celebrity’s backside.

The latest example arrived when Trump said he would consider rapper Nicki Minaj for a prominent White House communications role, an idea he entertained only days after publicly marveling at what he described as her “beautiful” rear end.

Asked during an appearance on The Benny Show whether Minaj could be entrusted with a senior communications position, Trump did not dismiss the suggestion. Instead, he offered a response that was brief, but revealing.

“It’s a good idea. I’ll think about it.”

That single sentence instantly elevated what might have been a passing television exchange into a fresh chapter in the uniquely Trumpian fusion of politics, celebrity and spectacle.

The timing is notable. The White House communications operation has just lost Katie Zacharia, whose tenure atop the department lasted barely a week. As the administration looks to sharpen its message ahead of the midterm elections, Trump is publicly musing about a replacement who is better known for topping music charts than managing government communications.

Minaj, 43, has become increasingly supportive of the president in recent months, openly backing him as he seeks to rally supporters before the midterms. Political loyalty has long carried significant weight in Trump’s orbit, and the rapper’s public endorsements have clearly not gone unnoticed.

Neither, apparently, has anything else.

Just days before floating the possibility of a White House role, Trump delivered remarks that raised eyebrows even by the standards of an administration rarely accused of excessive restraint.

Speaking about Minaj while referencing Ohio Republican Sen. Jon Husted, Trump joked: “I looked at her butt, and I had never done that before with a man.”

He followed that with an even more direct observation.

“By the way, I saw a really beautiful butt, Nicki Minaj’s.”

The comments might have remained another footnote in the endless stream of Trumpian one-liners. Instead, they acquired new significance once the president suggested he might consider the same celebrity for a high-profile role overseeing political messaging.

The resulting optics are difficult to ignore. A president publicly praises a performer’s physical appearance, then publicly entertains the idea of bringing that performer into the White House communications hierarchy. Whether the overlap is meaningful or merely coincidental, it is now part of the same political conversation.

To be clear, no appointment has been announced. No nomination exists. No formal talks have been disclosed. Trump committed only to considering the idea.

Still, in an administration where public remarks have often served as a testing ground for future decisions, even a casual presidential musing can carry unusual weight.

For now, Minaj remains a celebrity supporter rather than a White House official. But the fact that her name is being mentioned alongside one of the administration’s most visible communications jobs says much about the political culture surrounding Trump’s presidency.

In Washington, communications directors typically earn attention for the messages they craft. This week, the conversation began somewhere else entirely.
