The US Vice President landed at Ciampino with his family. Talks with Giorgia Meloni and Cardinal Parolin are scheduled

US Vice President JD Vance arrived at Ciampino military airport this morning, Friday 18 April, for his first official visit to Italy and the Vatican. His wife Usha and three children also landed with him.

The visit comes on the heels of the bilateral summit between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Washington. Vance, a prominent member of the US administration, will meet with the Prime Minister, who has just returned from the US, today.

Also on the agenda is a meeting with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The topics at the centre of the meetings range from bilateral relations between Italy and the United States to international political issues, with particular attention to the situation in the Middle East and the joint commitment on human rights and religious freedom.
