Foreign Minister Sa’ar’s statements on the continuation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip

Hamas published a video showing Elkana Bohbot, 35, and Yosef-Haim Ohana, 24, who were kidnapped during the Nova Festival in the Negev desert on 7 October 2023. The two hostages, who appear visibly tried, speak to a former prisoner, asking him to share their experience to speed up their release. Elkana Bohbot, an Israeli-Colombian citizen, suffers from asthma and has developed a severe skin disease due to the conditions in which he is being held.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, reiterated that the end of the war depends on the release of the hostages and the demilitarisation of Gaza, but if this is not possible through diplomacy, Israel will continue with the military operation.
