New US raid in Thuqbah. Yemeni rebel TV reports civilian casualties including women and children

The United States conducted a new attack in Yemen, striking an area in the Thuqbah region. According to reports on al Masirah TV, a channel of the Houthi rebels linked to Iran, the raid left at least eight people dead, including women and children.

The Houthi denunciation

The news, spread by media close to the Shia movement, accuses Washington of targeting innocent civilians. The attack is part of a long series of American operations against the Houthis, considered a threat to the safety of shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Ties with Tehran

The Houthis, backed by Iran, have been protagonists in Yemen’s internal conflict for years and have been carrying out attacks against merchant ships in the strategic area for months. The United States, together with Western allies, has intensified operations to counter the group, which is accused of destabilising the region.

So far, the Pentagon has made no official statement on the Thuqbah attack.
