Trump Skips Son’s Bahamas Wedding Over White House Duties
The U.S. president says official responsibilities will keep him in Washington during Donald Trump Jr.’s weekend ceremony
Trump declines to attend son’s wedding – President Donald Trump will not attend the upcoming wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., scheduled for this weekend in the Bahamas, citing his obligations in Washington.
In a statement, the president said he had hoped to be present for the ceremony but ultimately decided to remain at the White House due to his responsibilities.
“A crucial moment” in Washington – “For as much as I deeply wished to be with my son, Don Jr., and to welcome the newest member of the Trump family, his future wife Bettina,” Trump said, “circumstances tied to my government responsibilities and my love for the United States of America do not allow me to do so.”
He added that he considers it important to stay in Washington, D.C., “at the White House, at this crucial moment.”
Message to the couple – The president concluded his remarks by extending congratulations to the couple: “Congratulations to Don and Bettina.”
The wedding is expected to take place over the weekend in the Bahamas.
