Tragic accident in Indonesian waters: only 23 survivors among the 65 people on board

Tragedy at sea off the island of Bali, Indonesia. A ferry sank due to adverse weather conditions, causing the death of four people, while another 38 passengers are missing. The alarm was raised by the Indonesian Search and Rescue Centre, as reported by the national broadcaster MetroTv.

According to initial data, 65 people were travelling on the ferry. Only 23 were rescued, while search operations continue unabated in the rough waters of the area.

The bad weather is believed to have hit the vessel violently, causing it to sink suddenly before it could reach a safe harbour. Local authorities have not yet provided exact details on the location of the shipwreck or the identities of the victims and those missing.

Rescue teams are operating with the support of boats and aircraft in the hope of finding other survivors. The Indonesian authorities, who have long been committed to improving the safety conditions of local maritime transport, will now have to clarify whether all protocols were followed before departure.
