Trump warns Putin: “If not for me, Russia would’ve faced very bad things”

On Truth Social, the President claims credit for global stability and issues a stark warning to Moscow: “He’s playing with fire”

President Donald Trump issued a dramatic warning to Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a new post on Truth Social:
“What Vladimir Putin doesn’t understand is that, if it weren’t for me, Russia would have had some really bad things happen to it. And I mean really bad. He’s playing with fire!”

Boasting leadership in foreign affairs

The statement reflects Trump’s familiar rhetoric, portraying himself as a decisive leader who kept adversaries in check. Trump has repeatedly claimed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine wouldn’t have happened under his presidency — a message central to his 2024 campaign narrative.

Context of continued U.S.-Russia tensions

The message comes at a time when Washington-Moscow relations remain tense, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and global diplomatic manoeuvres. Trump aims to reinforce his image as an uncompromising leader, claiming an active role in containing global threats.

No official comment has been issued by the Kremlin.
