Arab League: Egypt’s proposed reconstruction plan for Gaza approved

Arab leaders welcome the reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip proposed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in opposition to the US alternative

During the Arab League summit in Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that his reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip had been officially adopted by Arab leaders. This plan aims to offer an alternative to US President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal of US control over Palestinian territory and displacement of the population to Egypt and Jordan. The approval of al-Sisi’s plan represents a clear stance by the Arab world.

The rejected US proposal: opposition to Trump’s plan

The summit was marked by the discussion on Trump’s proposed plan, which would have drastically changed the political and demographic situation in Gaza. In fact, the plan envisaged the displacement of the Palestinian population to Egypt and Jordan, under American control, a measure that drew widespread criticism in the region. In contrast, the Egyptian president’s plan focuses on maintaining Palestinian sovereignty and rebuilding the Gaza Strip, offering a path towards stability and local development.

Egypt’s role in the reconstruction of Gaza

With the approval of the plan, Egypt strengthens its role as a mediator and supporter of the Palestinian cause. The reconstruction of Gaza is seen as a key step in improving living conditions in the region, as well as a step towards peace and stability. Sisi stressed the importance of a shared Arab plan that preserves Palestinian identity and promotes the economic recovery of the territory, without external intervention that undermines Palestinian autonomy.
