Donald Trump says “everything perfect” after Walter Reed medical checkup

The U.S. President reports a flawless routine examination at Walter Reed as questions about his health continue to circulate

Donald Trump described his latest routine medical examination at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center as “perfect,” following a scheduled checkup conducted as part of standard procedures for the President of the United States.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had “just completed my semiannual physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center” and that “everything went perfectly,” thanking the medical staff before returning to the White House.

The President, who will turn 80 on June 14, has been under consistent public scrutiny regarding his health. Over recent months, images showing bruising on his hands have circulated widely, fueling speculation and discussion about his medical condition.

According to reports, the bruising has been linked to the use of higher-than-recommended doses of aspirin prescribed for cardiovascular prevention. Trump has acknowledged taking doses above standard guidelines.

He is also reported to suffer from chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that can cause visible swelling in the ankles. While medical guidance typically recommends regular physical activity to manage the condition, Trump has not publicly emphasized exercise as part of his routine.

The White House has repeatedly stated that the President remains in “excellent health,” pointing to routine medical evaluations, including dental checkups conducted in Florida, as well as previous cognitive testing carried out at Walter Reed, which Trump has described as successful.

Despite official assurances, public debate over his health continues. Videos and images occasionally circulating on social media platforms such as X have shown the President appearing with his eyes partially closed during public events, prompting renewed commentary.

Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a cardiologist who previously worked with former Vice President Dick Cheney, told The Washington Post that age-related health issues are expected but emphasized concerns about transparency in public communication regarding the President’s condition.

Survey data from a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll conducted in April indicated that 40% of Americans believe Trump has the mental sharpness required for the presidency, down from 47% in a previous survey. The same poll showed that 44% of respondents consider him to be in good health, compared with 54% in September of the previous year.
