The move comes as the couple awaits a ruling from the RAVEC committee on whether they will receive publicly funded protection now that they are living in the United Kingdom.
Earlier this month, Express reported that Meghan triggered a security alert when her private number surfaced in a WhatsApp group for parents at a local school. In a screenshot later shared by The Sun, a mother welcomed the Duchess to the Year 3 chat with book emojis. Another parent chimed in: “Welcome!” Meghan replied warmly: “Hi mums! Thank you for the warm welcome. I’m so excited to be part of this community xx.”
The Duchess had joined the group shortly before Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, began their first day of school in the UK. The screenshot circulated widely, raising concerns about privacy and exposure.
Official reason: safety risks linked to traffic
“Officially,” the children were moved because the commute posed security risks. According to Hello!, the long drive to school was considered unsafe, prompting the Sussexes to transfer Archie and Lilibet to another institution.
The change follows last week’s meeting of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, which oversees security decisions for members of the royal family. Prince Harry is awaiting the outcome of a threat assessment by the Risk Management Board. RAVEC is expected to decide whether the Sussexes qualify for taxpayer‑funded protection now that they reside in Britain.
The Telegraph reports that the committee’s chair wrote to Harry last week confirming that, given the couple’s changed circumstances, a new risk assessment had been commissioned — one for him and a separate one for Meghan.
