Cindy Crawford Family Breaks Silence After Presley Gerber’s Death
The model’s parents and sister Kaia Gerber share their first public tributes as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding his death
Nearly a month after the death of Presley Gerber, his family has publicly spoken about the loss that has shaken one of America’s most recognizable celebrity families.
Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber and their daughter Kaia Gerber released a joint statement on social media, accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of Presley, who died on September 20 at age 27.
“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved son and brother. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years,” the family wrote.
The statement paints a portrait of a young man remembered not for his public profile as a model and actor, but for the qualities those closest to him say defined him most. Crawford, Rande Gerber and Kaia described Presley as “a sweet and beautiful soul,” highlighting his kindness and vulnerability while thanking friends, supporters and well-wishers who reached out following news of his death.
Their message concluded with a simple promise: “We will love you forever.”
Kaia Gerber later shared her own tribute, offering a more personal glimpse into her grief. The model posted a childhood video and photograph showing the siblings together, along with a deeply emotional message about learning to navigate life without her older brother.
“I love you endlessly, to the moon and back, over and over, forever, big brother,” she wrote.
In a longer reflection, Kaia described the pain of adjusting to a reality in which she can no longer call him, speak with him or simply know he is there. “I’m learning how to love you when I can’t see you,” she wrote, adding that she is still trying to understand how to be a sister in a world without him.
As the family mourns publicly, authorities continue investigating the events that preceded Gerber’s death.
According to available information, Presley entered Resolutions Living, a residential recovery facility in Santa Monica, California, on September 19. The following morning, he was found dead.
Police have said the death may have been related to a drug overdose, although the investigation remains ongoing. An autopsy has been completed, but the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has deferred ruling on both the cause and manner of death while additional testing is carried out. Officials have indicated that reaching a final determination could take months.
Investigators are also working to establish where the substances allegedly consumed by Gerber originated.
The case has raised broader questions about the facility where he died. Reporting by the Los Angeles Times has indicated that Resolutions Living operates within a regulatory gray area and is not licensed to provide medical care. The California Department of Health Care Services has opened an investigation into whether the facility was providing services that required state licensing.
The inquiry was launched after the department received a complaint regarding the facility in September.
Gerber had previously spoken openly on social media about his struggles with addiction and mental health. His death has renewed scrutiny of residential recovery programs, the oversight they face and the safeguards in place for people seeking treatment.
For now, however, the public investigation is unfolding alongside a private tragedy. While authorities work toward answers, the Crawford-Gerber family has chosen to remember Presley through photographs, memories and messages celebrating a son, brother and loved one whose absence is now at the center of their grief.
