A deeply personal message posted on X details the end of Shivon Zilis’ relationship with Elon Musk, reflecting on love, loss, and their future as co-parents
Shivon Zilis has publicly revealed the end of her relationship with Elon Musk, sharing an emotional and highly personal message on X, the social media platform owned by the billionaire entrepreneur.
The Neuralink executive, who is also the mother of four of Musk’s children, opened her post with a striking account of how abruptly the relationship came to an end.
“Elon Musk left me without warning,” she wrote, describing the experience of moving from being in love to letting go in the space of a single week. “It’s hard to go from being in love to letting go in a week without warning, but sometimes that’s just how it is.”
In the lengthy letter addressed to her followers, Zilis reflected on what she viewed as her role in Musk’s life during their time together. She said she wanted him to experience what it felt like to be deeply understood, cared for and loved with stability, gentleness and consistency.
Referencing what she described as the turbulence of Musk’s childhood, his often troubled inner life and his efforts on behalf of humanity, Zilis said her goal had been to offer him the deepest and most stable form of love possible.
“My heart is full knowing I succeeded, and I hope it leaves a positive lasting effect,” she wrote. Alongside the message, she shared what appeared to be some of her final exchanges with Musk.
The post also portrayed the family environment she said they had built around him. Zilis described it as a place where everyone was genuinely happy to see Musk and where love and happiness prevailed rather than conflict.
“We were always his safe space,” she wrote, contrasting that atmosphere with what she called the otherwise militant nature of his existence. In her words, it served as a necessary respite from a battlefield, allowing him to recharge emotionally before returning to his responsibilities.
She said she cherished being that source of balance, security and calm, adding that bringing a smile to Musk’s face during difficult moments was among the things she valued most. “I will miss it tremendously,” she wrote.
Later in the message, Zilis reflected on the depth of her feelings for Musk and the impact he had on her life. She said she loved him “more than life itself” and credited him with teaching her “a hundred lifetimes of knowledge” while filling her life with meaning.
Despite the pain of the separation, she pointed to the four children they share as a lasting source of gratitude. Accompanying the passage with four heart emojis, Zilis described them as “four beautiful little loves of my life.”
“I am so immensely grateful for our children and they make every single day the best day of my life,” she wrote. She also expressed hope that she and Musk could maintain a strong friendship and partnership as co-parents.
Closing the letter, Zilis acknowledged that she was hurting but emphasized that her affection for Musk remained unchanged.
“I am suffering, but I care deeply for E and will always root for his happiness,” she wrote. “Godspeed, Elon. The world is lucky to have you.”
