Sources cited by Reuters say Iran’s new Supreme Leader is recovering from severe injuries but continues to take part in key decisions via audio conferences
Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, is reportedly still recovering from the aftermath of the Israeli airstrike carried out on February 28, during which his father Ali Khamenei was killed and he subsequently assumed the leadership role.
According to Reuters, as cited by three sources close to Khamenei’s inner circle and reported by Israel Times, Mojtaba Khamenei sustained serious injuries in the attack, including severe damage to his face and to one or both legs.
Despite his condition, he is described as remaining alert and involved in decision-making processes. The 56-year-old leader is said to participate in sensitive meetings via audio conference, including discussions on military developments and negotiations with the United States.
Sources indicate that although he is still in recovery, Mojtaba Khamenei continues to play an active role in governing Iran during a highly volatile phase marked by war-related tensions and diplomatic engagement.
