New York Times responds to Trump: ‘Attempt to muzzle independent journalism’
The newspaper rejects the £15 billion lawsuit filed by the American president against the newspaper and four of its reporters
The New York Times reacted immediately to the £15 billion lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump against the newspaper and four of its journalists, calling it ‘an attempt to muzzle independent journalism’.
According to the American newspaper, the lawsuit ‘has no merit’ and will not affect the newspaper’s commitment: ‘We will not be deterred by intimidation tactics,’ the statement said.
The case concerns articles reporting alleged links between Trump and financier Jeffrey Epstein, against whom the former president had brought charges of defamation and libel.
