Trump-Putin summit for peace, Vance: “Agreement will be unsatisfactory for everyone”

The US vice president predicts an agreement to stop the killings, but without full satisfaction for either Kiev or Moscow

US Vice President JD Vance has given his predictions on the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled for August 15 in Alaska. According to Vance, the goal is to find an agreement that will allow Ukrainians and Russians to live in relative peace, with an end to the killings, but that will not fully satisfy either Kiev or Moscow.

The Zelensky unknown
It is still unclear whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also attend the meeting. “Putin has always said that he would never deal with Zelensky. President Trump has changed all that,” Vance told Fox News. However, according to the vice president, a direct meeting between Putin and Zelensky before the summit with Trump “would not be so productive.”

No more US funds for Ukrainian defense
Vance reiterated that the Trump administration no longer intends to directly fund Ukraine’s defense against the Russian invasion, while supporting the possibility of Kiev purchasing weapons from US companies with European financial support. “We want to reach a peaceful solution and stop the killings. But Americans are tired of sending their money to this conflict. If Europeans want to buy weapons from American manufacturers, that’s fine with us, but we will no longer finance it,” he added.
