Cala Goloritzè in Sardinia is the most beautiful beach in the world according to the 2025 ranking

The pearl of the Baunei Coast in Sardinia takes first place in the prestigious ‘World’s 50 Best Beaches’, awarded for its pristine beauty and conservation efforts

Cala Goloritzè, a jewel of the Baunei Coast in Sardinia, has been crowned the most beautiful beach in the world in The World’s 50 Best Beaches 2025 ranking. The selection, the result of the work of judges, Beach Ambassadors and the site’s international team, rewards not only the extraordinary scenic beauty but also the environmental protection that characterises this unspoilt corner of the Mediterranean.

‘Cala Goloritzé is much more than just a beach,’ reads the official commentary. ’Its wild beauty touches deep inside, whether you look at it from the top of the belvedere or standing with your feet in the water. Also striking is the spectacular 143-metre-high limestone pinnacle, towering like a natural cathedral. The crystal-clear water, ideal for swimming, completes a landscape picture of rare beauty.

What also makes Cala Goloritzè unique is its strict conservation policy: regulated access, limited number of daily entries and the possibility of mooring only 200 metres from the shore for boats. Declared a natural monument in the 1990s, it is now a virtuous example of sustainable tourism.

La Pelosa also among the best

Another Sardinian beach symbolically closes the ranking, in 50th place: La Pelosa di Stintino, on the north-west coast of the island. Famous for its shallow turquoise waters, it is often compared to the most renowned tropical locations, even though it is located in the heart of the Mediterranean.
