Meghan and Harry against Meta: ‘Concerned about changes to fact-checking’
The Dukes of Sussex criticise Meta’s decision to replace the content-checking programme on Facebook and Instagram, fearing an increase in hate speech
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have publicly urged Mark Zuckerberg to rescind changes to Meta’s fact-checking policies. The changes include replacing the fact-checking programme with a community note system, similar to that of X, Elon Musk’s platform. In an official statement, the couple expressed concern about the impact these changes could have on freedom of expression, accusing Meta of prioritising content that promotes hate and division. Harry and Meghan called on Meta to reinstate policies to protect users and urged other leaders to maintain high security standards in online spaces.
