Gaza, at least 875 killed near aid distribution points in six weeks

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights reports that most of the victims were near centres run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is supported by the US and Israel

Gaza – At least 875 people have been killed in the last six weeks near aid distribution points in Gaza. This is according to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, as reported by the Times of Israel.

Most of the victims, according to the UN, were near sites run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an organisation supported by the United States and Israel. Another 201 people were reportedly killed along the routes of humanitarian convoys run by international organisations, including the United Nations itself.

The dynamics of the attacks have not yet been clarified, but the High Commissioner expresses grave concern for the safety of civilians seeking access to humanitarian aid in an increasingly dangerous environment. International agencies are calling for guarantees of protection for humanitarian workers and people queuing at distribution points, stressing that targeting those who provide or receive aid constitutes a possible violation of international humanitarian law.
