According to sources reported by journalist Rob Shuter, King Charles believes that his brother will no longer be able to provide adequate care for the animals. It would be even worse if they remained with Sarah Ferguson, who will not be following her ex-husband to the King’s private estate.

An anonymous source quoted by Shuter claims that Her Majesty the Queen “was fiercely protective of her dogs” and would never have wanted them to stay alone with Sarah. The journalist writes that the King is already considering “formal channels” to claim Queen Elizabeth’s corgis as part of the “living legacy of the Crown”.

Prince Andrew’s reaction

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor strongly rejects the hypothesis. “He categorically rejects it,” reports the blog. Palace sources fear a far-reaching internal clash, with two corgis as the symbolic focus of the conflict. There has been no official comment from Buckingham Palace, but the tension is evident.
