Iranian missiles strike US base in Qatar, explosions in Doha: interceptions in flight VIDEO

At least ten rockets launched from Tehran against Al Ubeid, the largest American base in the Middle East. Qatari air defences have been activated. One appears to have hit a US base in Iraq: Qatar now reserves the right to respond as its sovereignty has been violated

Qatar’s air defences were activated in the early hours of today to intercept at least six missiles launched from Iran against the US military base at Al Ubeid, near Doha. If confirmed, the attack would represent a serious escalation, striking the main American outpost in the Persian Gulf.

According to local sources and videos posted on social media, loud explosions were heard in the Qatari capital, Doha, causing moments of panic among the population. There is currently no official confirmation of any damage or casualties.

The target: the most strategic US base in the Gulf
The Al Ubeid (Al Udeid) base is home to approximately 10,000 American military personnel and is the regional operational centre for the US Air Force, from which missions throughout the Middle East are launched. A direct attack on this facility would have significant military and political implications, prompting Iran to strike such a major target in a third country for the first time.

Escalation of the crisis and regional threat
The action follows days of growing tension between Washington and Tehran after US raids on Iranian nuclear sites. The Pasdaran had threatened retaliation against US installations in the region, and this attack could be the first concrete sign of that strategy.

The choice of Qatar, a mediator in key regional issues, could indicate Tehran’s willingness to raise the stakes without a direct attack on American territory, but by striking a key symbol of the US presence in the region.
