John Ratcliffe in Moscow After US Military Plane Lands in Russia
A U.S. military transport aircraft, a Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, reportedly landed in Moscow after flying from Andrews Air Force Base near Washington and stopping in Riga, according to online air traffic monitoring data cited by Russian state news agency Tass.
According to the data reported by the agency, the aircraft departed from Andrews Air Force Base, flew to Riga and then continued toward Russia, arriving in Moscow at around 10 a.m. Moscow time.
A source from an air traffic control service in the European Union told Tass that the aircraft had initially arrived in Latvia from Andrews Air Force Base before departing from Riga and heading toward the Russian border.
“The aircraft continued in the direction of the state border with Russia,” the source told the Russian agency.
The aircraft had also made a stop at Charleston Airport in the United States, according to the same report.
The reported flight has not been independently confirmed in the information provided. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had no information concerning the U.S. aircraft.
