U.S. Sanctions Autistici/Inventati Over Alleged Antifa Support

Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the Italian tech collective provided digital infrastructure to violent far-left networks in the United States and around the world

The U.S. sanctions Autistici/Inventati come after the Italian technology collective was designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by Washington, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio accusing the group of providing digital infrastructure used by violent far-left networks in the United States and around the world.

“Far-left terrorism poses a profound threat to the United States and the broader West,” Rubio said in a post on X. He accused violent extremists of seeking to undermine public order, destroy critical infrastructure, attack political opponents and conceal their activities from law enforcement, adding that Washington would use “all the tools and authorities” at its disposal to fight terrorism.

The U.S. State Department identified Autistici/Inventati, also known as the A/I Collective, as an Italy-based extremist group that allegedly builds and operates digital infrastructure for violent Antifa cells and other far-left militants.

According to the department, hackers and developers associated with the collective provide encrypted chat and email services, website hosting, secure videoconferencing and tools designed to protect users’ anonymity. Washington says those services have been used to organize activities, recruit members, communicate, distribute propaganda, exchange information about targets and tactics, and carry out violent attacks while attempting to remain anonymous and beyond the reach of law enforcement.

The State Department also alleges that A/I manually selects users based on ideological affinity and has become a key node in what it describes as a transnational campaign by violent far-left networks to destabilize the United States and its partners.

Washington cited a series of attacks and acts of sabotage in Europe that it says were linked to groups using Autistici/Inventati’s infrastructure.

According to the State Department, anarchist cells responsible for railway sabotage in France, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands in 2026 used the collective’s services to claim responsibility for attacks, publish statements and circulate instructions for making improvised incendiary devices.

The department also linked the collective’s services to the sabotage of the Transalpine Pipeline, or TAL, in March. The attack disrupted the flow of crude oil toward Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic, according to the U.S. government.

Another network cited by Washington is accused of attacks against German railway and energy infrastructure between 2011 and 2026. The State Department says the same infrastructure was used to publish claims of responsibility and calls for further attacks following a January assault on Berlin’s power grid that left 45,000 homes without electricity and caused one death.

The U.S. government also alleges that Rose City Antifa, based in Oregon, used services provided by Autistici/Inventati to organize and encourage violent and criminal acts. According to Washington, the group distributed personal information about Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and called for attacks against them in public and at their homes.

A separate anarchist cell involved in the campaign against the construction of a law enforcement training center in Atlanta allegedly used A/I infrastructure to claim responsibility for attacks against police, threaten officials and contractors, and distribute instructions for making explosive and incendiary devices.

Washington also cited Jane’s Revenge, a group accused of a campaign of arson attacks against anti-abortion centers in the United States. According to the State Department, the group used Autistici/Inventati’s services to publish claims of responsibility and encourage copycat attacks.

The department further alleges that platforms connected to A/I were used to distribute maps of critical infrastructure, instructions for building explosive devices and statements issued by organizations designated as terrorist groups by the United States.

The sanctions announced by Rubio therefore target not only the Italian collective itself, but what Washington describes as the digital infrastructure supporting a broader network of violent far-left organizations operating across national borders.
