Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer arrested in Utah

Trump: ‘We got him, I hope he gets the death penalty.’ Governor Cox: ‘He acted alone.’

‘I think, with a high degree of certainty, that we have him in custody. Everyone did a great job.’ With these words, in an interview with Fox and Friends, US President Donald Trump announced the arrest of Tyler Robinson, 22, suspected of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a university campus in Utah. ‘I hope he gets the death penalty,’ Trump added. ‘Kirk was a great person and didn’t deserve this. He was like a son to me, a brilliant young man who helped me with TikTok.’

According to investigative sources cited by NBC, Robinson confessed the crime to his father. The parent, after alerting the authorities, reportedly detained him until the police arrived. ‘A family member contacted a family friend who in turn notified the Washington County Sheriff,’ Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed at a press conference, stressing that ‘the 22-year-old acted alone and there is no evidence to suggest any other accomplices.’

Investigators have acquired chats between Robinson and his roommate describing the preparation for the attack: from retrieving a rifle hidden in a bush to messages about “engraved bullets” and changing clothes. Unexploded bullets with homophobic and anti-fascist phrases, including ‘Hey fascist! Take this’, “Oh bella ciao” and “If you’re reading this, you’re gay. Lmao”.

Trump explained that he did not want to see the video of the shooting so as not to remember his friend “that way”. The president reiterated that the suspect’s capture was made possible thanks to a tip-off from “someone very close to him, who recognised even a slight tilt of his head”.
